Velalonga & Velalonga Raid - Venice

Velalonga Venezia 2006 - May, 27th and 28th, 2006

 

Velalonga Venezia is a sailing event organized by Circolo VelicoCasanovasailing club and it’s about sports, nature and local culture.

It’s a two-day event taking place on a weekend.

27 may

The first day, Saturday, is about conviviality and everyone is invited to participate in the “Prova la barca” (Try the boat) part where visitors will have the chance to try and test their sailing or rowing skills on the lagoon facing SanGiuliano Park.

28 may

The Velalonga regatta will take place on Sunday along an itinerary which will take the boats through the islands and canals of the beautiful Venice lagoon.

Velalonga Venezia and Fitzcarraldo Cup (held in October on the GardaLake) are twinned sailing events.

Italian sailing experts and world champions Giovanni Soldini and Alberto Sonino will be with us to share our common passion for sea, wind and sailboats.

 

 

The art of sailing can be learnt and taught also by learning respect towards nature and the beautiful territory immersed in the history and the typical traditions of the Venetian lagoon.

Velalonga Venezia is therefore a big event where anyone can put their sailing skills into practice.. irregardless of their budget!

 

The Venice lagoon represents a unique landscape and ambience; thanks to its peculiarities it can be discovered on any small-to-medium boats such as sailboats, catamarans and the traditional flat-bottomed lug sailboats..

Velalonga Raid 2006- May, 31st-June 4th, 2006

 

For the first time since its launch 6 years ago Velalonga Venezia will host another event that no adventurous sailor will miss: the Velalonga Raid where small sailing and rowing boats will take part in a challenge where only sails, wind and oars are allowed!

During the 5 days of the Velalonga Raid, the 50 NM itinerary will unfold along and around the North and South side of the Venice lagoon. The participants willbe sailing and visiting the most fascinating corners of the lagoon, meeting friends from all over the world (The ‘Sailing raids’ fleet’) as well as members of sailing clubs all over Venice and Chioggia.

 

They will also have the chance to take part in the final Velalonga Day in San Giuliano, to visit the Certosa island-based “Vento di Venezia” club and shipyard , to participate in the Festa dei Venturierievent in Chioggia and to watch the regatta of the Vela Al Terzo Sailing club from Chioggia to Venice.

 

The Velalonga Raid event wants to be part of the European Sailing Raids circuits and represents a chance for every visitor of our area, be it an amateur or an expert sailor to get to know our beautiful territory better, to meet new friends in a beautiful atmosphere where sports, culture, friendship and history all come together.
