SENSATION 2009 will be an unplugged Carnival, far from amplification, from deafening music and from the improvement of just one spectacular central point. For next year Marco Balich and Venice Marketing Events, that already curated the edition of New Year’s Day 2008, LOVE 2008, as well as Carnival Sensation 2008, want to carry out the idea of giving Venice a still stronger format than the one of the previous edition, by choosing to spread fun, involvement and of course the presence of the six senses as the protagonists of Sensation all over the town. A Carnival which will enjoy many little new initiatives at any corners of every district, according to a quality street theatre, of Venetian, Italian and European backgrounds. A variety of performances whose senses will be enlivened and placed in their own particular areas.  The coincidence with the Biennale Theatre and the collaboration with Maurizio Scaparro will contribute also to make Sensation 2009 a very spectacular Carnival with strong cultural potentialities. A Carnival in which, beside new initiatives and the strong mark of the format, tradition will go on living, involving, entertaining and exciting.
PROGRAMME
The flight of the Angel
One of the best-loved Carnival events, with a new, surprising star-guest. This event will be accompanied, according to tradition, by the Doge and Dogaressa’s historical parade.
Sunday 15th February h. 12.00 a.m. St. Mark’s Square
The Festa delle Marie
Like in the 2008 edition, the not-to-be-missed Festa delle Marie will be held on Sunday, on the day dedicated to traditional Carnival celebrations. As usual the parade will leave from San Pietro di Castello until it reaches St.Mark’s Square. The prize for the winning Maria will be given on Tuesday 24th February.
Sunday 15th February, h. 3.00 p.m., arrival at St. Mark’s Square.
DRAG QUEEN BEAUTY PAGEANT
The real Carnival spirit and all the fun and irony of fancy dress is once again among the main attractions of Sensation 2009 by means of the Beauty Pageant  for Drag Queens that passes over the Italian borders becoming a European-reaching celebration.
