From 6th to 16th February 2010

The official programme of Carnival Sensation 2010 has been presented in Venice. Also this year, for the last time, it is based on Marco Balich’s and Venezia Marketing Eventi’s arrangement. It will be a moderate and high-quality Carnival, like the one of last year.
The great opening party will take place in St. Mark’s Square on 6th February 2010: in early afternoon for children with clowns, people who will make up children, puppet shows, men on stilts and candy floss; for adults, from 9.00 p.m. the Carnival opening show, ‘Arlecchino servant of two masters’ interpreted by the amazing Ferruccio Soleri.

SAN MARCO – MIND
Let’s go on with the programme of the Square. On Sunday 7th at Midday Bianca Brandolini d’Adda will descent from the Bell Tower, in a sumptuous dress created, just for this occasion, by Giambattista Valli, an art and comedy Italian stylist living in Paris, and she will land on a platform inside the Garden set up in St.Mark’s Square. Just afterwards there will be the Marie Parade and the on of Historical commemorations.
On Monday 8th, Tuesday 9th and Wednesday 10th there will be Sensation Tango: St. Mark’s Square will be crowded with tango dancers, professionals and not. Everybody will have the opportunity of undertaking this king of dance by following the instructions of the most experienced dancers.
On Fat Thursday 11th February there will be several shows starting from 12.00 a.m. First of all the Art Comedy of the ‘Gemelli Veneziani’. Then the ‘Invasati’, that is giant animated ficus Benjamin, ‘Operation Escargot’, namely a big fairy tale snail going around the garden, ‘Insects’, that is a parade of huge insects, and ‘Carillò’, a Catalan show with a huge clock made of animated characters: all these will stay in St. Mark’s Square during the following days too. Selections for ‘The best Carnival Costume Contest’ will begin too: the election will take place on 14th February, among the jurors there will be also Fabrizio Plessi, a well-known Venetian artist and Angela Missoni.
On Friday 12th February the Drag Queens will compete in the Contest dedicated to them: at the end of the competition there will be two winners, one for the best look and one for the best performance.
Saturday 13th February from 8.30 p.m. the majorettes COMPATRUM from Rome will parade in a very colourful Carnival style towards the Garden of St. Mark, presenting the fire show by the French artists La Salamandre, whose performances will take place also on Sunday 14th on St. Valentine’s Day.
Monday 15th February Sensation Tango is back
Tuesday 16th February, for the end of the Carnival there will be a surprise  great Seventies’style Musical Event.

S. POLO DISTRICT – SIGHT
In Campo S.Polo there will be lots of performances for children. Exceptional guests will be Bjorn and Ursula: an extraordinary animated polar bear and its mate will explain the wonders of the Pole world. Campo Bella Vienna will be the location for many Aperitif Lounges with dj sets starting from 6.00 p.m. and then live concerts until 11.00 p.m. In Erbaria ‘El rosto del sultan’, with ‘cicheti and specialties on a ‘bragozzo’, that is a typical Venetian boat, anchored on the bank.

DORSODURO – HEARING
This is the youth district with a plenty of music. First of all in Campo Santa Margherita: dj set and lots of ska-reggae. On Saturday 13th, Terminal Crocierre of the Harbour will be the ideal location for an amazing party. On Saturday 13th February: The Wonderdock, with Motel Connection Live, Dj Albertino, Italoboyz, RdioDj and Giulio Veronese.

CANNAREGIO- TASTE
Sunday 7th February will start with ‘Festa Veneziana’: an extremely coloured water parade and the flavours of the district will open the traditional event with Fritoin Express, lots of street animation such as the ‘Bon Appetit’ and many Venetian gastronomic specialties. During all the week there will be tasting and cook lessons by great chefs. Moreover ‘the course of taste’, from Friday 12th, a culinary itinerary you cannot miss, throughout the taste district.
CASTELLO – TOUCH
After the success of last years the ‘Carnival in the Dark’ is back: it is an itinerary in complete darkness in order to discover all the senses. In addition to this, owing to the collaboration with the Biennale of Venice, the Carnival of Creativity will be held: a long sequence of workshops for adults and children.

SANTA CROCE – SMELL
‘Oriental perfumes and chocolate’ will be one of the greatest shows of the Carnival: a stand with spices, aromas and teas reminding us Oriental countries.
