Ferruccio Soleri with ‘Harlequin servant of two masters’ will mark the opening of the 2010 Venetian Carnival on the night of 6th February in St. Mark’s Square. After Nobel Prize Dario Fo, who opened the edition of last year, another great artist will start the ten days of fancy dresses, shows, colours and music. The show he will performed in the most famous square in the world will be an adaptation created by his cooperation with the film director Stefano De Luca and realized just for the Venice Carnival.
Ferruccio Soleri has even played the role of the protagonist of ‘Harlequin servant of two masters’ 2064 times and not by chance he is considered the most famous interpreter in the world of the well known Venetian fancy dress. Marco Balich, the Venice festival’s artistic director, declaring that nobody but Soleri could mark the opening of the festival, has invited him for the night of 6th February 2010. The show will take place in St. Mark’s Square where a fantastic garden based on the most well-known fairy-tales will be created: a green itinerary with plays of mirrors and sculptures, and a big door where the majestic Lion of the last edition will stand out, but this year it will be adorned according to Arcimboldo’s paintings. A place where visitors can walk and, above all, can parade as protagonists, by showing their fancy dresses. Tania Danieli
