Cavalchina Ball Party – Carnival Sensation 2010

Also this year La Fenice Theatre will host, during the Carnival of Venice 2010, precisely next Saturday 13th February, the Cavalchina Ball Party: it dates back to the XVIII and XIX centuries and it has been successfully renewed since 2007 as it is considered the Venice Carnival top event by lots of people. Organized in order to support La Fenice Theatre, the Cavalchina is a charming and striking private party to which an international public, composed of the leaders of some important associations born to safeguard Venice or to support the big Drama Theatres, take part. The 2010 Cavalchina theme will be ‘The beauties and the beasts’.
The new event of this fourth edition will be the Cavalchina Awards created for two celebrities, a national and an international one, whi have always distinguished themselves for their innovative, artistic and personal attitude. The 2010 Cavalchina Awards will be given to Ornella Vanoni and Grace Jones who, with their creative talent and extremely personal style, have been able to get a unique aura making them the symbols of an artistic innovation which is well-known all over the world.
PROGRAMME OF THE PARTY
The programme of the party will begin at 8.00 p.m. with the arrival of the guests that will be received in the Foyer where the buffets with the appetizers will be served, while in the Main Hall, cleared of the armchairs and specially equipped with a mirror-like floor, a classic orchestra inspired by the St. Mark’s square big cafés ones, will play danceable pieces of the late XIX century. The guests who want to, will have the opportunity to walk down the stage of the theatre, introduced by the patroness and presenter Yvonne Sciò.
Different points of the theatre will host some make-up corners by the Maison Chanel that will preview its new lipstick.
At 9.30 the first part of the comic-acrobatic shows will take place in the Main Hall with the performance of an artist with sheets followed by a special pas de deux between the acrobat and a white horse ridden by Mario Luraschi (this show was performed for the Maison Gianfranco Ferrè too). The show will go on with the live performance of the Marinetti sisters who will sing an international repertoire of the Thirties and Forties, accompanied by the Maniscalchi Orchestra.
The buffet dinner will be served at 10.00 p.m. in the ‘Sale Apollinee’ and in the ‘Sala Rossi’: while dining a small orchestra will play background music in the Sale Apollinee and in the Foyer, while the Maniscalchi Orchestra will play in the Main Hall with danceable plays of the Thirties and the Forties. At 11.15 p.m. the second part of the show will start in the Main Hall with the performance of the quick-change artist Ennio Marchetto, drawn by his show Carta Diva (performed for the Comité francais pour la sauvegarde de Venise too). In the Foyer there will be open bars and in the Sale Apollinee desserts and drinks will be served non-stop. In the meantime about 200 young people will be free to get inside the theatre for the rest of the soirée and at 12.00 p.m. the Cavalchina Awards will be delivered to Ornella Vanoni and Grace Jones.
At 12.30 a.m. the Main Hall will become a disco, first with the dance group Discoinferno which will performed with dances of the Seventies and Eighties (dances performed also by some young people of the Comité francais pour la sauvegarde de Venise too), then, from 2.00 a.m. till dawn, with the DJ Alexandre Toesca coming from Paris.
