Video – Punta della Dogana, new displaying place for Francois Pianault, is open!
From June 6th, 2009
The spaces of the Punta della Dogana, cunningly restored by the great architect Tadao Ando, from today can hold about 100 works of art of the French magnate Francois Pianault’s collection, along an expositive itinerary starting from Palazzo Grassi – where about 150 artworks are on display – for the Mapping the studio exhibition, curated by Francesco Bonami and Alison Gingeras. Ando’s intervention was defined by the Major as ‘a masterly restoration, a unique example of how in Venice people can and must work, against all past concerns. Massimo Cacciari has expressed his appreciation by saying that ‘in the restored building Pinault has realized a cultural, artistic, expository centre of great value and international prestige for art and art global market, a pillar for cultural economy, with roles of teaching, education and innovation in any field’.
