Biennale Dance 2009 under the direction of Ismael Ivo the project Degree Zero will take place from 20th to 28th June 2009: on the stage all the young interpreters invited to compete with choreographies by famous artists  – from Trisha Brown and Jasmeen Godder to Pina Bausch and Robyn Orlin. It will start on 20th and 21st June with The Waste Land, the latest creation by the Brazilian choreographer who is also the director of the event, in which the attention is focused on the dancer’s body seen as the sensory entity of society. The dance is also the result of the whole session of study with which dancers have faced up this year, based on the idea driving the high level training centre of the Arsenale della Danza, according to which, along with the transmission of knowledge from the master to students, it is necessary to develop the dancers’ creative potentialities giving them the opportunity to compete with the professional stage. Beside such primary artist’s trials, there will be, then, on 25th and 26th June, Michael Clark’s long-awaited original creation, derived from the passion for rock music of one of the most remarkable dancers and choreographers in Britain, and it will make its world debut at the Biennale. Everybody is looking forward to the arrival at the Biennale of the Company of the Rome National Academy; the supervisor will be Pina Bausch, with a three-party soirée significantly entitled Incipit. The soirée will be introduced by a solo inspired by Nefes by Pina Bausch thanks to her dancer Cristina Morganti’s skill
