Venice Airport: Project Viki has starter with three walls and two interactive floors in order to help the tourists in search of information
On 15th April 2009 at the Marco Polo Airport in Venice, with the installation of three sensitive walls and two sensitive floors VIKI started, namely a pilot project carried out by Interactive Digital
Veneto. We are dealing with multimedia interactive emplacements ready to welcome the passengers arriving at Venice Airport. With few and simple gestures tourists will be able to start dialoguing with interactive walls and floor, getting all the information they ask for.
The interactive walls and floors, operating in the Darsena area, will become animated and transmit tourist information on demand, according to the movement of travellers. The new interactive emplacements are based on the language of natural interaction, that interprets the passengers’ gestures and develops an intuitive dialogue with people who, thus, will have the opportunity of interacting in a natural way in order to get tourist information or discover the services offered by the Regione Veneto. The main phase of the project has started today with the aim of identifying the advantages it can offer and the benefits brought regarding tourism, derived form an innovative model of business based on the language of natural interaction. The awaited results will lead to the definition and development of a platform for running and handing out generic contents based on these new logics of interaction. Tania Danieli
