Tom Parish: Large windows
Scoletta Tiraoro and Battioro,
from 3rd to 28th March 2009
Tom Parish’s production, namely the American artist who has been painting in Venice for twenty years, is
on display, for its first time, in Italy at the Scoletta dei Tiraoro and Battioro from 3rd to 28th March 2009. His artworks, which look like windows through which we can catch a glimpse of a different world, represent a ceaseless navigation in Venice seen as an imaginary and physical place, where it is easy to be transported with the suggestions of the light as well as the events of history that the stones of this town preserve.
The paintings on display represent, at the same time, a story in which the reflection of the buildings on water is the prevailing image. Parish, who is aware of the importance of the water element – which is often predominant for its quantity in his paintings – reproduces every concrete architectural building in its double, in the changing reflection of the gleam on the lagoon surface.
Time table: 10.00 a.m.-6.00 p.m.
