Casa Martini has belonged to the Martini family since 1700, thanks to Cipriano Moro Martini, a shrewd spice trader between Venice and the East.
The Family has lived there ever since, but in 1900 the property began to be split up and sold: the business on the ground floor was sold first and the first floor followed shortly afterwards.
The piano nobile and the attic remained in the family, but eventually the latter was also divided into apartments and rented out...
In 2000 Luigi Martini, the last heir to the family, decided to open his house to guests and bring it back to life, welcoming visitors who love things with an history, who love the very walls that have witnessed so much, and who love to find authentic signs of the past even in a room.
In the meantime the attic had become available to Luigi Martini once again, and in 2003 renovation works began.
What was his dream?
To buy back the entire Palazzetto Martini and make memories whole.
The rooms
The décor mirrors the traditional distribution of social roles in Venetian palaces: the eldestmembers of the family lived on the piano nobile (the most prestgious part of the house, today's second floor);the rooms on this floor are richly decorated in Venetian style.
The servants lived upstairs, in the attic; the décor is simpler, but dramatic renovation works have brought back to light the admirable structure of the roof, with rafters and tiles.
A warm and charming atmosphere can be perceived in every part of the House.
